Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an account to use Kriolu Market?
No. You can browse all listings, view seller profiles and see listing details without an account. You only need to sign up when you want to post a listing or send a message to a seller.
How do I create a listing?
Tap the + button at the bottom of the screen. You will be guided through 3 steps: choose a category, add photos and a description, then set your location and price. Your listing goes live instantly after publishing.
Is it free to list items for sale?
Yes. Creating and publishing listings is completely free. Optional paid promotions are available to boost visibility, but are never required.
How do payments work?
Kriolu Market does not process any payments. All financial transactions are arranged directly between buyer and seller. We recommend meeting in a safe public location to exchange items and payment in person.
How do I contact a seller?
Open any listing and tap "Contact Seller". This opens the in-app chat. You never need to share your personal phone number with other users.
How do I report a suspicious listing?
Tap the flag icon on any listing page and select the reason for your report. Our moderation team reviews all reports quickly. You can also email support@kriolumarket.cv for urgent cases.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile, then Settings, then Account, then Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, listings and message history. If you have trouble, email support@kriolumarket.cv and we will process the deletion within 48 hours.
Which islands does Kriolu Market cover?
All 9 inhabited islands of Cape Verde: Santiago, Sao Vicente, Sal, Boa Vista, Fogo, Santo Antao, Maio, Sao Nicolau and Brava. Filter listings by island from the home screen.
Which languages does the app support?
The app is available in Portuguese (primary), English and Cape Verdean Creole. Change the language under Profile then Settings.
Why does the app ask for my location?
Location access is entirely optional. If you allow it, the app uses your location only to suggest your island and city when creating a listing. You can deny this permission and manually select your location with no loss of functionality.
Why does the app need camera and photo library access?
Camera access is requested only when you photograph an item for a new listing. Photo library access allows you to select existing photos for listings. Neither is accessed at any other time or for any other purpose.
How do I turn off push notifications?
Go to iPhone Settings, then Notifications, then Kriolu Market, and toggle off any types you do not want. You can also manage this inside the app under Profile, Settings, then Notifications.

Always meet in a public, well-lit location such as a cafe, market or busy street. Bring a friend for high-value transactions. Never invite strangers to your home address.

Before you pay:
Inspect the item thoroughly before handing over any money. Test electronics to confirm they work. Check that serial numbers are present and have not been removed, which can indicate stolen goods.

Red flags to watch for:
Seller refuses to meet in person. Price is dramatically below market value. Seller asks for payment before you have seen the item. Seller requests payment via wire transfer, gift cards or cryptocurrency.

If something feels wrong:
Trust your instincts. Use the flag icon to report the listing and email support@kriolumarket.cv if you believe fraud is occurring.
